Information We Collect

FurFinds is designed to collect as little personal data as possible. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not collect names, email addresses, or passwords from visitors.

Voting

When you vote on a vendor, we generate an anonymous identifier (UUID) stored in your browser’s localStorage. This identifier is combined with your IP address and hashed using SHA-256 before being stored in our database. The resulting hash cannot be reversed to identify you. We use this solely to prevent duplicate votes.

Age Verification

If you choose to view NSFW vendor listings, we ask you to confirm you are 18 or older. This confirmation is stored locally in your browser’s localStorage and is never sent to our servers.

Vendor Submissions

If you submit a vendor through our form, we store the information you provide (store name, URL, description, category, country, and optional contact info) in our database for manual review. We do not associate submissions with any personal identity unless you voluntarily include contact information.

Server Logs

Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may collect standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, and pages visited. These logs are managed by Cloudflare in accordance with their Privacy Policy.

FurFinds itself does not set cookies. However, we use third-party services that may:

Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on the Site. Google AdSense may use cookies and web beacons to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.

• furfinds_votes — A record of which vendors you have voted on, so we can display your votes when you return.
• furfinds_voter_id — An anonymous UUID used for vote deduplication.
• furfinds_age_verified — Whether you have confirmed you are 18+.

This data is stored only in your browser and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings.

Third-Party Links

FurFinds is a vendor directory that links to external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those external sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any site you visit through our directory.

Data Retention

Vote hashes are retained indefinitely to maintain vote integrity. Vendor submission data is retained for as long as the listing is active, or until a removal request is processed. We do not retain any data that can personally identify voters.

Children’s Privacy

FurFinds is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
